NENUFAR – BRAZIL TOURIST VILLAGE
Atopa, Brasil
The client’s request was to create a tourist village divided by different spaces and buildings to create an organic and natural environment
The design is enriched by Brazilian Architectural elements and the use of passive energy strategies.
THE MASTERPLAN
The Land is extensive with a predominant direction, which led us to divide the land into three main portions.
As a tourist place, the identity of the Masterplan is also its main key.
The parts and buildings are naturally connected by different timber paths which also define the identity of the space.
Therefore the organic course of these paths draws a “NENUFAR”(water lily) that can also be utilised as the identity of the place and to represent its Logotype.
As a NENUFAR all the project is floating over a natural lake that during the rainy season is filled up.
Each separate space has a main central natural element that can be seen from each individual building.
The first place is a bungalow village which floats on a natural swimming pool and where we can identify the large water lily.
At the centre of the masterplan, we find three pedals that divide the space between the villas and the two villages with a large central common garden.
Finally, we have common areas with a shared swimming pool, restaurant, stores and meditation area.
VILLAS
The connection with Brazilian architecture is the main requirement on the part of the client.
With Brazilian elements such as COBOGÓ or MUXARABI, we have designed the villas in a modern way.
The L shape is of paramount importance to embrace the space and the pool is the core towards the house is facing and around which the building is organised.
The vertical circulation is located in the corner of the L where the stair flies over an internal green patio and leads to the terrace for a breathtaking view.
The villas have separate private land and this gives the possibility to use a transparent facade with folding windows, typical of Brazilian Architecture.
There is no boundary between inside and outside, it blends completely with the environment.
VILLAGE HOUSE
At the centre of the project, the two villages of casitas are divided by a large garden.
This 2-bed 2-storey house is reminiscent of the very colourful villages typical of Brazilian architecture.
Here too we have used some architectural solutions of this land, such as thatched roof, and eucalyptus elements used for shading.
Both floors also have a terrace to enjoy the view and the natural environment.
BUNGALOW
The bungalow village is very important for its position with respect to the entrance to the masterplan and it is the main view for visitor upon his arrival.
This is the base on top of a natural swimming pool that fills up in the rainy season.
The bungalow is a vertical building and the floors divide the space, on the top level, we can find a terrace to enjoy the view.
The façade is completely covered with eucalyptus folding windows that can be opened according to the needs of the visitors.
COMMON SPACES
Closer to the sea we find the common areas with restaurant, gym, kitesurf store, public swimming pool and yoga terrace.
In this area as well, the timber paths create a water lily above the common pool and finally two long paths lead to the sea.
The shape of the building is inspired by kitesurf flying over the waves of the sea.
On the ground floor, we can find a restaurant/bar and a kitesurf shop with a large roof that reflects the shape of the waves.
At the top, space is devoted to a yoga meditation area with an organically shaped thatched roof.
All the project from the Masterplan to the individual buildings is designed with a sustainability strategy and with local materials.
The design is characterful of the Brazilian architectural heritage.
At the same time, all the different buildings and spaces details convey an identity base of sustainability, nature and history.
